PRINTING METHODS

DIRECT PRINT PACKAGING. TimBar offers a full range of flexographic printing options and is capable of producing outstanding quality impressions for your packaging and displays using this process. We are able to achieve close registration, are capable of printing up to six colors and offer color matching to ensure the integrity of your branding.

LITHO-LAMINATED PACKAGING. Combines a litho printed sheet and single face corrugated to produce a glossy, high graphic, structural sheet which can be used for packaging and within displays. Litho-laminated packaging provides stacking strength and transport protection for the product while also providing high graphic options for retail appeal.

SPOT OR FULL LABELS are a cost-effective way to add gloss, color and graphics to your packaging. They can be used alone or combined with flexographic printed corrugated. Full wrap labels provide the biggest impact and can cover the entire front panel of the package.

DESIGN

DesignPackaging design can be a complicated process because each package presents its own set of problems with a variety of possible solutions. Each TimBar manufacturing facility has its own structural and graphic design team. Designers consider many factors when developing a package such as:

  • What the package will hold
  • How it will be transported
  • Manufacturing or assembly issues
  • Marketing goals
  • Disposal or environmental issues
  • Budget
  • Project timeline

A clear understanding of what the package must protect against ensures that the designer will provide the client with a container that meets all of their needs.

Samples, mockups and testing are available through all TimBar locations.

ABOUT CORRUGATED

Corrugated fiberboard has two main components - linerboard and medium. Linerboard is the flat facing that adheres to the medium. The fluted medium is glued between the linerboard facings and provides protection and insulation. The medium is typically bonded to the liners with a starch based adhesive. A flat piece of fiberboard that has been cut, slotted and scored is called a box blank. For many box types, two box blanks are brought together using tape, staples or glue to form a box. Where they are adhered is called the manufacturer's joint.

Medium comes in several common sizes. A-flute was the original flue profile. With 33 flutes per foot it is the largest. C flute is next in size and one of the most commonly used at 39 flutes per foot. Next is B flute at 47 flutes per foot and E flute at 90 flutes per foot. Micro-flutes such as F and N provide enhanced graphic capabilities for retail applications. Flute profiles can be combined to meet specific needs.
