COMPANY OVERVIEW
TimBar Packaging & Display is a privately owned, independent manufacturer of corrugated shippers, value-added packaging and point-of-purchase displays headquartered in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Nearly 1,000 employees along with a mix of corrugator and box plants plus specialty manufacturing, fulfillment and design/sales offices make up TimBar's East Coast Operation. Strategic alliances with key suppliers and manufacturing partners expand our capabilities to other parts of the United States and abroad. A combination of experience and resources backed by an entrepreneurial culture enables us to be a responsive, innovative, total packaging solution provider.

HISTORY
In September 1955, two competing corrugated box salesmen, Thomas Cline and Kenneth Wenk joined forces to launch Oxford Container. From a modest 10,000 square foot plant located in New Oxford, PA, 10 employees began manufacturing can cases and brown shipping containers for the local marketplace. TimBar’s growth accelerated during the 1970’s with acquisitions in Florida. Other acquisitions in the 1990's included Sunbelt Container with plants in South Carolina and Tennessee and Oneida Container in upstate New York. In 1988 Oxford Innovations was formed to focus on retail packaging and displays. CorrLam was established in 1998 to specialize in the manufacturing of litho-laminated packaging. Later, both business units were combined to form what is today known as the company's Point-of-Purchase Division. In October 2005 and January 2006, the Company acquired two facilities in Tampa, Florida. The Tampa Division (formerly Berry Packaging) is a 105,000 square foot box plant specializing in the production of mini and jumbo boxes. The Protective Packaging Division specializes in polyethylene and polyurethane foam and corrugated protective packaging.
TimBar’s success has been due in large part to highly skilled employees dedicated to exceptional customer service, reliable on time delivery and the utmost attention to product quality. The innovation and creativity of our team enabled TimBar to be a leader in the introduction of E-Flute to the U.S., the use of letterpress to print four-color process on E-flute, the development of wax impregnated board for the poultry and produce markets, and the converting of non-bending chip for patented applications such as the photo album and ring binder business.
Our legacy provides us with a broad perspective of many different customers in diverse industries. Our success in supplying innovative packaging springs from our commitment to understanding our client’s needs and applying creative talent and technology to achieve bottom line results.
Celebrating 50 years of Packaging & Display Excellence

SAFETY
TimBar Packaging & Display takes the safety and well-being of its employees very seriously. In the year 2002 the position of Safety Manager was created and the Corporate Safety Steering Team started.
The goal? To change our overall culture as it related to safety. The methodology? A grassroots approach where a safety champion at each facility encourages communication, creates trust and supports the development of employee-led improvement efforts. The result? The number of recordable incidents has decreased by 66% since 2001.
If you'd like to learn more about TimBar's safety program or how a similar program can be implemented within your organization, please let us know. We'd be glad to help.

LEAN ENTERPRISE
For several years, TimBar Packaging & Display has been developing a business system that utilizes lean principles, practices and tools to create high quality goods and services with fewer defects, less capital and less time. We continually strive to improve productivity and reduce waste while adding value for our customers. In 2007 TimBar began implementation of a new business software system that will support our efforts in this area by making us more productive and improving our competitive advantage. It will enable us to collaborate more closely with our suppliers and customers by improving communication and increasing speed to market while making our front end processes leaner and less dependent on paper.
Each TimBar facility has a designated Lean Champion who is responsible for training and implementation of lean principles and tools. The Lean Champion is also responsible for ensuring that associates participate in problem-solving and that the process includes input, feedback, honesty and respect. Our implementation of lean encompasses our entire operation not just the manufacturing floor. From customer service to accounting, design to production all of TimBar's associates have been trained on the principles of lean and work daily to enhance customer satisfaction and reduce waste. Lean Lenny helps us to communicate lean enterprise messages and celebrate successes in a fun, recognizable manner.
